Stevenson Falls
What lies at the end of Million Dollar Road near Auberry, CA is a million dollar view — of the tallest waterfall in Fresno County, Stevenson Falls. However, the journey begins at the end of Italian Bar Road, where you can immediately access Jose Creek, which features some rocky terrain alongside numerous swimming holes — a perfect hangout spot for an afternoon with friends.
Further along Million Dollar Road are some incredible views of the San Joaquin River. The paved road exists primarily as service road to a hydroelectric power plant owned and operated by Southern California Edison. However, every year, hikers and mountain bikers alike flock to the road for its million dollar views — especially in the spring time. In addition to the main attraction of Stevenson Falls, which is impressive in its own right, you will find several caves carved into the rock walls. Don’t expect any serious spelunking, however, these caves offer some respite from the heat and some interesting geological features. Bring a flashlight!
